"Beautifully thought out cottage - anything you need is already there. Very comfortable stay for a week. Good location for seeing all that Harris has to offer. Would definitely stay again."

The cottage was extremely comfortable and well-appointed. It had everything we required and more. The attention to detail was remarkable with printed and annotated instructions for all the facilities and also a comprehensive folder of local walks and other activities. Martin made contact early in the holiday to check we had everything we needed. Although we had a week of glorious weather the external drying room will prove extremely useful in less clement conditions!"

Tip:  "Visit Scalpay and walk to the lighthouse. Do the Coffin Road walk. Visit Luskentyre beach. If feeling brave drive down the Golden road. Try the cafe at the Gin distillery in Tarbert.

“Great Lewis and Harris base”

Reviewed 21 July 2017 for a stay in July 2017

Albany Cottage is a spotless, spacious, cosy and comfortable cottage in an ideal location for exploring Lewis and Harris. It has history and soul with the addition of a modern extension providing the holidaymaker with all amenities for a stress-free break. There was nothing lacking in the cottage, clearly designed by people who know how to provide self catering essentials… Eating in was a doddle using the high class kitchen equipment. The weather allowed us to take advantage of the sitooteries - seats and benches - in the lovely back garden at all times of the day. Communication with the owner is first class and a small problem with a normal component failure was resolved quickly and efficiently. Hot water is plentiful and the bathroom is enormous. We were unable to take advantage of the multi-fuel burner in the open plan kitchen diner come sitting room due to the good weather, but in colder climes that would be a bonus. The utility room is useful for coats, boots, etc. Booking meals ahead is advised, North Harbour Bistro, Temple Cafe and The Harris Hotel provided our meals out and First Fruits, Herbscape and Skoon Arts were great for snacks. The islands are great for history, beaches, walks and amazing scenery. All in all a smashing holiday. Thanks to Martin and Chris for their well thought out cottage.      See this and more on TripAvisor
